About the Exhibit
About Seymour Schulich
In 2017 Seymour Schulich approached the W.M. Keck Museum interested in donating over eighty historic stock certificates to the museum. These certificates date from the late 18th century to the early 20th century and tell the story about the American West and the people who helped build the Western United States.
The Project Team
Garrett Barmore: Museum Director and Head of Schulich Historic Certificate Collection Exhibit
Garrett Barmore has been the curator of the Keck Museum since 2013. He received his Master’s degree in Museology with a focus on professionalizing small museums.
Natasha Majewski: Digital Exhibit Creator, Curator, and Project Manager
Natasha Majewski navigates human and place connectivity through creative program development and management, communication, and social science research. Her digital work focuses on interactive online curation, authentic storytelling, and creative cartography.
Josh Fleming: Web Developer
Full Stack Web Developer, working with projects in various platforms and languages under the name Revolt Media.
John Butler: Web Graphic Designer and Multimedia Creator
John Butler has owned and operated his Reno-based creative services business for over nine years with a focus on marketing, advertising, public relations and Apple technology consulting. When away from his desk, John enjoys following his son’s baseball and band endeavors, playing music, fly fishing, skiing and exploring areas of the Western states.
Dr. Alison Hotten: Research and Writing Consultant
Alison is an instructor and historical-geographical researcher with prior work on mining towns of the American West and the Jewish community of South Florida. She graduated with her doctorate from University of Nevada, Reno.
Tanner Hayes: Researcher, Writer, and Transcriber
Tanner Hayes studies Geophysics at the University of Nevada, Reno. He loves planetary geology and mining history.

Accessing the Collection
All of the certificates in the Schulich Historic Certificate Collection have been digitized and are available for download in the bond library so they can be viewed remotely. Images in the bond library are at a lower resolution, but all images have been scanned at archival quality 600 DPI. These higher resolution images can be ordered by contacting:
