This stock certificate (No. 4314) represents 50 shares valued at $50 each for the 13th and 15th Streets Passenger Railway Company. This certificate is signed by Trustee and famed businessman, Meyer Guggenheim. Guggenheim, who made his fortune from mining and smelting, was one of the wealthiest men during the 1800’s and is known today for his philanthropy in creating the Guggenheim Museums.

At the bottom, a young girl with dark hair looks to her right. On the bottom left sits the company’s official seal stating “Thirteenth and Fifteenth Passenger Railway Company, 1859.” An orange stamp near the left corner states the terms of validation. This certificate has several holes punched into it.

This Certifies, that Meyer Guggenheim is entitled to Fifty Shares in the Capital Stock of the Thirteenth and Fifteenth Streets Passenger Railway Company of Philadelphia, transferable only on the Books of the said Company in Person or by Attorney on return of this Certificate.
