This stock certificate (No. 78) represents 20 shares valued at $1.00 each for the Bodie and Hawthorne Telephone and Telegraph Company. This stock is signed by Company President Thomas Leggett, the creator of the first long distance electric transmission lines. Leggett also pioneered the use of cyanide for extracting gold from ore.
